Trinitas Receives American College of Surgeons Accreditation
One of 8 NJ Centers recognized for breast cancer diagnosis, treatment

The American College of Surgeons National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) has accredited both the Diagnostic Imaging Center and the Trinitas Comprehensive Cancer Center of Trinitas Regional Medical Center, significant recognitions for the medical center’s cancer diagnosis and cancer care services. The NAPBC accreditation makes Trinitas just one of eight New Jersey facilities to receive this accreditation for its voluntary commitment to providing the best in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment and its compliance with established NAPBC standards. To qualify for NAPBC accreditation, each center must undergo a rigorous evaluation and review of its performance and compliance with the NAPBC standards. To maintain accreditation, centers must participate in an on-site review every three years.

Nancy DiLiegro, PhD, FACHE, Vice President, Clinical Services, points to the value of the diagnostic services at Trinitas designed exclusively for women. "The Women’s Imaging Center at Trinitas provides diagnostic services crucial to helping many women safeguard their health," Nancy explains. "The diagnostic services we offer, using state of the art technology within a compassionate environment, are among the best services in the region. Women come to our breast facility knowing that they will receive the best of care."

The same can be said of the Cancer Center. "When the Trinitas Comprehensive Cancer Center opened its doors in 2005, it did so with the commitment to providing superior, compassionate care to those who use our many services," explains Barry Levinson, Medical Director of the center. "We approach each patient with the utmost of care and direct our attention to giving them not only the best care and treatment but also the best quality of life as they survive cancer. Each day, we strive to demonstrate that we are thoroughly dedicated to the best of care and to the best of life for our patients. The NAPBC accreditation underscores that commitment and encourages us to maintain the very highest standards for our patients."

James Frost, MD, who recently received the Mastery of Breast Surgery designation from the American Society of Breast Surgeons Board of Directors, works closely with patients at the Comprehensive Cancer Center. "This accreditation highlights the level of care and attention that we offer our cancer survivors each day," notes Dr. Frost, adding "We support our patients with the latest in cancer treatment including patient-oriented programs such as multidisciplinary teams that explore new treatment options, access to a patient navigator and clinical trial information, and ongoing quality indicator data collection. We all work together to achieve the best possible individual outcomes."
