TRINITAS APPOINTS TWO NEW MEDICAL ONCOLOGISTS
Trinitas Comprehensive Cancer Center Opens Satellite Office In Union
Trinitas Comprehensive Cancer Center today announced the appointment of two
new medical oncologists to its staff and the opening of a satellite office
in Union for patient consultations and exams, beginning in mid-April.
The two new cancer specialists are Dr. Fred Steinbaum and Dr. Vincent
Salerno, previously partners at Hematology and Oncology Associates of New
Jersey in Union. Their Morris Avenue office will be converted into a
Trinitas Comprehensive Cancer Center satellite office, where the doctors
will continue to see patients for consults and exams.
"These appointments are in keeping with our mission to expand our medical
oncology exam and infusion services and make these services more accessible
for the community in Union County and beyond," said Gary S. Horan, FACHE,
president and CEO of Trinitas Regional Medical Center. "We welcome these two outstanding
physicians. Their expertise will be an invaluable asset to our new cancer
center and to its mission."
Dr. Steinbaum, who will serve as associate medical director of the cancer
center, is widely published and has held various positions and affiliations
with many of the region's most respected cancer programs for over 30 years.
Dr. Steinbaum did his fellowship in medical oncology at Memorial Sloan
Kettering Cancer Center and has been serving as the chairman of the
Department of Hematology and Oncology at Union Hospital in Union, NJ since
its inception.
"I'm excited about joining the Trinitas Comprehensive Cancer Center team,"
Dr. Steinbaum said. "Everyone there shares my passion for outstanding
medical care and excellent customer service, focusing not just on the
patients, but also on providing support for their family members."
Dr. Salerno, who did his fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Saint
Vincent's Hospital in New York, is the author of several significant
research papers and has taught at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and
New York Medical College. He is board certified in medical oncology,
hematology and internal medicine.
"I am looking forward to offering my patients greater access to the
comprehensive multidisciplinary services and advanced technology available
at the new cancer center," Dr. Salerno said. "Having greater access to
clinical trials and patient support services is very important in our fight
against cancer."
In a recent letter informing patients of their move to the new cancer
center, Drs. Steinbaum and Salerno wrote, "We are joining a wonderful and
caring team of professionals in a new facility that offers a beautiful and
healing environment for you and your family. Like a fine hotel, Trinitas
Comprehensive Cancer Center makes patient service a top priority."
