Medical Oncology/Chemotherapy
The highly-skilled and accomplished doctors at Trinitas Comprehensive Cancer
Center offer extensive experience in prostate, breast, lung, colorectal,
head & neck, ovarian, liver and pancreatic cancers, leukemia, hematological
disorders, and brain tumors. Our medical oncologists and hematologists meet
with patients and their families to determine an individualized treatment
plan that is optimal for each patient.
Radiation Oncology
Radiation Therapy is a non-surgical cancer treatment where radiation is
delivered either through external, non-invasive high-energy rays from a
linear accelerator or through seed implants inserted near the tumor.
Radiation therapy is used to destroy or damage cancer cells so they are not
given the chance to multiply.
Surgical Oncology
Choosing the optimal cancer treatment is determined by the type of cancer a
patient has, the stage of cancer and overall condition. Selecting the most
appropriate treatment also depends on whether the goal of the treatment is
to cure the cancer, keep it from spreading, or to relieve the symptoms
caused by cancer. Although treatment may vary, nearly all cancer patients
will endeavor some kind of surgery even if it is a simple procedure for
diagnosis.
Hematology
Trinitas hematologists concern themselves with a patient's blood and the
generation of blood in the bone marrow. Hematologists examine and treat
diseases that are caused by imbalances of red and white blood cells and
their relative proportions and general cell health, notably leukemia and
anemia.
Clinical Trials
Also called research studies, clinical trials are designed to assess
potential new treatment or prevention opportunities with the goal of better
outcomes. Clinical trials test the safety and efficiency of new or
transformed cancer drugs, doses, unique approaches to surgery or radiation
therapy, and diversified treatment combinations. The goal of a clinical
trial may be to cure more patients, to prolong the lives of more patients,
to prevent the spread or recurrence of cancer, or to achieve the same
outcome as previous therapies with fewer side effects.
Supportive Services
Pain is often a concern for people diagnosed with cancer. TCCC has a
dedicated board-certified Symptom Management physician to treat cancer related
pain. In coordination with the referring physician, our team develops an
individualized pain and symptom management plan to meet the specific needs
of each patient.
Financial Services
Our patient-centered philosophy makes us sensitive to the complex medical,
emotional, psychosocial, spiritual and financial issues faced by patients
and their families.
In the changing world of health care, financial and insurance issues can be
complex and confusing. This pamphlet was designed to help you understand our
process for billing medical services and to explain your role.
